Hotmail was launched on July 4, 1996. Its original name and capitalization refers to HTML, the encoding language used by the World Wide Web.

In February 2007, the Hotmail name returned thus became Windows Live Hotmail. It is now integrated into the new Windows Live services and has replaced MSN Hotmail.

This logo is applied due to Metro design language. This logo did not replace the mark above it, but was used as a transition mark while Outlook.com was still in beta throughout the second half of 2012 and the beginning of 2013.

Outlook

Outlook.com was launched on July 31, 2012 as a successor to Hotmail and also a companion to Microsoft Outlook, the Office application. It phased out Hotmail on May 3, 2013.
