Microsoft Pegasus
1994–1996

Microsoft Pegasus was the internal codename of the project at Microsoft that hoped to create an operating system for a series of handheld computers. When the project achieved its goals and was ready to be sold to the general public, it had its name changed to Windows CE.
Windows CE
1996–2001
The first logo of Windows CE was similar to the Windows 95 logo used at the time, with the most noticeable difference the circle surrounding the Windows logo, which meant that the WinCE devices were more of an enclosed medium.
1998–2001 (secondary)
2001–2007
With the release of Windows XP in 2001, Windows CE's logo was updated to look like the desktop Windows' version. Sometimes the Windows CE version was added to the logo.
While Windows CE became part of the Windows Embedded family, Windows CE as a brand was superseded by Windows Mobile and then by Windows Phone as Microsoft's brands for the mobile market.
Windows Embedded CE
2007–2009
On January 30, 2007, to reflect that Windows CE became part of the Windows Embedded family, Microsoft rebranded Windows CE to Windows Embedded CE.[1]
Windows Embedded Compact
2009–2012
In April 2008, Microsoft rebranded Windows Embedded CE to Windows Embedded Compact. The logo was updated with smaller Windows icon on October 22, 2009.
2012–2023
In 2012, the logo was changed to resemble the design of the Windows 8 logo.
