The control panel icon variation first used in the lab06 compiles of Windows Longhorn build 4050. This image was taken from a slideshow that was presented at PDC 2005, which includes a higher-resolution copy compared to what was present in aforementioned builds.]] With the development reset of Windows Longhorn, this icon was removed and briefly replaced with the XP icon.
After Build 5059, this icon would be used again until Build 5284.
Since Windows Vista Beta Build 5308, Control Panel received its final icon.
