Cartoonito was launched in 2006 as a programming block on Cartoon Network Too, then as a standalone TV channel in 2007. It was later expanded all over Europe around 2011 and the United States as a programming block and in Latin America as a channel in 2021 replacing Boomerang, and Spain (until 2013) replacing the same channel.

Cartoonito was officially launched on 4 September 2006 as a preschool programming block on Cartoon Network Too. The logo consisted of the word "cartoonito" in white letters, with the first two O's being eyes and the holes being purple eyedots.

In July 2017 in Italy, Cartoonito rebranded, and slightly changed its logo and the eye dots from purple to black.

On February 21, 2021, WarnerMedia announced its plans to expand the Cartoonito brand to the United States as a programming block on Cartoon Network for preschoolers with a new logo on September 13, 2021. It consisted of Nito (the then-newly introduced channel mascot) on the channel wordmark (without the first two O's being replaced by said character). The brand expanded internationally by 2023 with more countries using the US logo.[1][2] As of 12 July 2021, this logo is used on their official YouTube channel. It was launched in Latin America and Brazil on 1 December 2021, replacing Boomerang. On 1 February 2022, Cartoonito in the United Kingdom had a new look and branding using the US logo and had a programming block on Cartoon Network UK. The American block ended on May 23, 2025.
