On April 6, 1997, Disney Channel underwent a relaunch that signified the beginning of its full conversion into a commercial-free basic cable channel, and its preschool block now utilized a similar graphics package for its promotions as that used for the channel's afternoon children's programs. The block did not have its own logo at that point; instead, the original Disney Channel logo from the time was used with variants.

In Spring 2001, Playhouse Disney was renamed to Playhouse Disney Channel (although the channel was still using its previous name in advertising) and was given a new look. Even though the Mickey TV set version of this logo was phased out in 2002, the version without it continued to be used until 2011.

On May 29, 2010, Playhouse Disney began using a logo similar to the Disney Channel logo from that same year exclusively for the DOG and some supplementary material. However, the on-air graphics remained otherwise the same; this logo was short-lived, as it was phased out on February 14, 2011 in favor of its new name Disney Junior.

In November 2010, it was announced that Disney would replace Playhouse Disney with a new children's programming brand under the name of Disney Junior, bringing to an end of the "Playhouse" era after 12 years of its existence. The new branding launched with the morning block on Disney Channel on February 14, 2011 with international channels following thereafter.
Disney would later launch a 24-hour Disney Junior television channel in the US (also marketed as Disney Junior: The Channel), on March 23, 2012.

In 2020, the Mickey Mouse head as the dot in "i" was slightly changed to more closely resemble the character model as seen in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Mickey Mouse Roadster Racers, Mickey Mouse Mixed-Up Adventures, and Mickey Mouse Funhouse. Moreover, a shadow was added beneath the letters "Junior". Despite this, the previous logo is still used in certain international markets, in several bumpers, and generally as a secondary variant.
Even after the channel shortening its logo and rebranding as Disney Jr. on June 1, 2024, this logo is still used on international markets until 2025 and in the United States as a transition piece to the rebrand with the logo shown below. The logo accidentally returned on September 29, being seen in the split screen credits graphic.
