WDWB 1

In January 1997, former owner Granite Broadcasting bought the station, and on October 14 of that year, the station's call letters changed to WDWB.

On February 1, 2006, the WB logo was removed from the station branding (similar to the Fox-owned-and-operated UPN stations at that time). The station then changed its call letters to WMYD on May 7 in recognition of its future affiliation with MyNetworkTV.

WMYD My 20 Detroit

On July 29, 2006, WMYD debuted a new logo, and the station was rebranded "MyTV20 Detroit" or "MyTV20". During the time before the actual launch of MyNetworkTV on September 5 (in which WMYD became an affiliate), it covered up all branding references to The WB during primetime and Saturday Morning programming and did not carry any network promos.

On June 16, 2014, The E.W. Scripps Company (owner of ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV) bought WMYD. Upon the consummation, WMYD adopted this logo and rebranded once again to "TV20 Detroit". On July 9, 2021, crosstown independent WADL announced it was becoming Detroit's new MyNetworkTV station.[1] This resulted in WMYD becoming an independent station itself for the first time in 26 years. The switchover was done on September 20.

On November 6, 2023, Scripps announced it had signed a new deal with Nexstar Media Group to affiliate WMYD with The CW starting Monday, November 13, 2023. This comes just over a week after WADL dropped CW programming after only two months following a dispute with Nexstar, the network's majority owner.

Unfortunately, it would be short-lived as Nexstar announced it would not renew the CW affiliations in Scripps-owned markets.[2] WMYD would become an independent station once again, effective on September 1, the same day as WKBD-TV would reaffiliate with the CW after a year, in addition to its sister station in Miami joining the network.
