Gma1974final

The station began broadcasting in November 1974 as DXZM-TV Channel 3, owned by RT Broadcasting Specialists, Inc, and which was an affiliate of GMA Radio-Television Arts. As the first TV station in Zamboanga, the station was also called "Pioneer 3" (like the station-centric branding of GMA's other stations such as Greater 7 for Manila, Cebu, and later Davao, and Magnitude 10 for Bacolod).

In 1977, the station went off the air again due to the transmitter and facilities being transferred following the acquisition done by Zambonga TV Corporation. A few weeks later, the callsign renamed to DXMJ after it's acquisition and return on the air - the callsign was formerly used on GMA's Baguio station until 1977 when the NTC rule commenced and renamed to DWMJ.

Another callsign change came in 1977 to DXLL-TV. DXMJ would later be used by GMA's Davao station (before this, GMA broadcast in Davao via affiliate DXSS-TV 7 of SBN, now inactive).

The GMA affiliation ended on January 1, 1995, as ABS-CBN acquired DXLL-TV Channel 3 from RT Broadcasting. GMA then moved to DXLA-TV, which broadcast ABS-CBN from 1988 to 1994.

On January 2, 2026, as part of a licensing agreement with ABS-CBN, the station's airtime was completely taken over by Kapamilya Channel, removing all Jeepney TV programming. This move, which was done as ABS-CBN ended its partnership with TV5, marked the full-blown return of ABS-CBN programming to analog Channel 3 in Zamboanga after nearly six years.
