The logo was redesigned to comply with Google's Material Design principles for its 2014 5.0 Lollipop version for Android. This logo was introduced on iOS in January 2015, and on desktop in October 2015.
As of Chrome OS 57 (released on March 15, 2017), the logo and wordmark appears as the startup animation on Chrome OS-powered devices (including the Chromebook), which dates back to the developer release of version 58 in February 2017.

The logo was first unveiled on February 4, 2022, on the canary version of Chrome as part of the Google design overhaul. The logo got slight modifications depending on the operating system.[3] The blue circle in the center is slightly increased in size and the colors are no longer saturated. The shadows near the borders of the red, green, and yellow colors are also removed.
This redesign officially took effect with the release of version 100 to the stable channel on March 29, 2022, though the previous one is still being used on some parts of the browser such as the installer.
