The Dreamcast was the first sixth-generation video game console and the final home console made by Sega, before it became a third-party publisher. In North America, the console was branded as Sega Dreamcast until early 2000.

The European/Australasian version was colored blue to avoid trademark infringement issues with German video game publisher Tivola, who had been using an orange swirl as its logo since 1995.
