During that period Sun Cellular became Smart's mobile virtual network operator instead of running on their separate legacy Digitel-era mobile network.

Sun adopted a new logo in February 2020 to reflect as a full-blown brand of Smart ("Powered by SMART".)

On October 21, 2020, Sun's prepaid service was merged and rebranded to Smart Prepaid.

On April 25, 2022, Sun Postpaid was merged and rebranded to Smart Signature. Thus, the Sun Cellular brand was officially retired after two decades and folded into Smart Communications.
