On November 18, 2012, the Nintendo eShop logo was redesigned to coincide with the introduction of the Wii U. The logo would later appear on the 3DS variant of the digital store in a software update in 2012.
On February 15, 2022, it was announced that the ability to buy and download new content on the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS would be discontinued worldwide on March 27, 2023.
