Homebase

In 1999, the Sainsbury's logo was removed from the Homebase logo, following it's rebrand that year. Prior to that, this version of the logo had been used as a secondary variant. Despite the aforementioned change, the "HOUSE AND GARDEN CENTRE" text remained in the same font as the previous Sainsbury's logo.

Sainsbury's sold off Homebase in 2000 to an investment firm, who then sold it in 2002 to the Argos Retail Group division of Great Universal Stores.

Following its acquisition by GUS, Homebase introduce a new logo (possibly to sever its link with former parent Sainsbury's), retaining the orange circle from the previous logo, but changing the font of the other lettering. The logo's colour scheme also because brighter.

In 2006, Homebase became part of the Home Retail Group, alongside Argos. Subsequently, after Home Retail Group acquired Habitat, Homebase stores would start gaining Argos and Habitat concessions.

Wesfarmers purchased Homebase in 2016 and began the process of rebranding the branches Bunnings Warehouse, a brand used for DIY stores by Wesfarmers in Australia. The first Homebase to become Bunnings Warehouse was St. Albans in 2017.

However, in 2018, Wesfarmers sold Homebase to turnaround specialists Hilco for just £1 due to disappointing results. The stores which had been rebranded as Bunnings Warehouse also returned to the Homebase branding.

In February 2020, it was announced that Homebase had returned to profit earlier than initially forecast, with nearly all of its 164 locations profitable.
