It, along with DZRH and DZMB, was shut down on September 23, 1972 with the declaration of Martial Law.

In 1991, after four decades, DWIZ was sold to Aliw Broadcasting Corporation. The Sunshine City branding was dropped and DWIZ veered completely to news and public service. Aliw's FM station DWQZ (97.9 Home Radio) followed suit three years after. The station also had a station manager, a former pillar from now-former sister station DZRH, Rey Langit (now with Abante Radyo).

In 2014, when the ALC Group of Companies acquired RPN, its AM stations became partial affiliates to DWIZ. Before this, DWIZ tied up with RPN as radio partner (RPN itself had a Manila AM radio station, DWWW, until 1986 when, after RPN was sequestered by the government, the station's frequency was awarded to ABS-CBN, on which it launched DZMM (now DWPM)).

In 2023, the news and commentary format would be adopted by Aliw's Home Radio stations that became DWIZ News FM (except the Manila Home Radio station) - this went on until 2026.

Under the management of new station manager Joel Gorosope, the station changed its format to a mix of news, commentary, and easy listening music (similar to sister station 97.9 Home Radio), just as Aliw's FM stations dropped the news format and reverted to music and entertainment (again, under Home Radio). The station also adopted a new logo, restoring the 2002-24 symbol, but now with the Aliw corporate symbol instead of the microphone.
