The station signed on October 1, 1964 as WTSJ-TV becoming the first English-language station in the island and the first to carry a full-time affiliation with a television network from the US mainland, that being NBC. In 1972, the station signed off.

Channel 18 came back on July 29, 1984, as WSJU with the NBC affiliation from the original incarnation of channel 18 carrying over. In 1991, the station dropped NBC and became an independent station.

Daystar Español

On June 5, 2025, the Spanish Broadcasting System announced the sale of WTCV and its satellites to the Daystar Television Network for $6.5 million; the sale was completed on August 18. The station was flipped to Daystar Español.
