Liverpool FC's first logo badge. Heavily based upon the Liverpool City Coat of Arms.

Late 1940s–1980s

Liverpool FC's alternate logo used from the late 1940s to 1980s in merchandise, matchday programmes, letterheads and more. Simplifying the previous logo by reducing it down to the "Liverbird" in the center. A fictional animal used as the symbol of the city of Liverpool.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of its foundation, an special badge was made, which includes the iconography of the "Shankly Gate" archway. An iconic design is named after their club manager, Bill Shankly, and features the text "You'll never walk alone", which was adopted as the club's slogan and anthem after the popularity of a Gerry and the Pacemakers cover in 1963.

1993–1999

The badge reverted to a regular one after the anniversary, retaining the Shankly gate alongside the 2 torches was made as a tribute in memory of the tragic events at a FA Cup semi-final in Hillsborough (the home stadium of Sheffield Wednesday) against Nottingham Forest, in April 1989, known as the Hillsborough Disaster. 97 people, mostly Liverpool fans, had lost their lives there.

1999–present

Since the 2024/25 season, the club started using the next logo, which have been a common occurance on kits by then, as their primary one, with this badge being secondary.

2012–present

This badge has been used since the 2012/13 season onwards, and the decision to remove the 2 torches and other important iconography on the flag was taken with much controversy, with the old version of the logo still often being used to represent the club until 2O24. However, from the 2013/14 season kit onwards, 25 years from the day of the Hillsborough Disaster, the number "96" between the two torches was added to the back of the collar, which has been appeared on all subsequent kits since. This was updated with the number "97" since 2022/23 to commemorate the 97th victim who have passed away a year earlier.
