Kwik Shop was founded as a division of Dillons Food Stores in 1959. Dillons would be acquired by Kroger in 1983.

In 2004, Kroger’s convenience store division introduced a unified branding scheme, uniting Loaf 'N Jug, Kwik Shop, Quik Stop, Tom Thumb, and Turkey Hill Minit Markets under the same store design. In 2018, EG America would purchase Kroger’s convenience store division.
