Many variations on this lettering would be used until the sixties. The company would open the first Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge in Savannah, Georgia in 1954.
This logo was introduced in 1990 for the restaurant chain, which was under the management of Franchise Associates, Inc. FAI shut down in 2005 after the restaurant chain rights were sold to La Mancha Group. It was still used at the Lake George, New York location (the last Howard Johnson's restaurant in existence) until 2022.
