This logo is very similar to how the 1930s logos looked; in export markets outside of the company's native Japan, the Datsun name would be phased out in favor of Nissan starting in 1983, with the transition being completed by 1986.

The Datsun brand was resurrected in 2012 for use in emerging markets such as India, Indonesia, Russia, and South Africa.
In 2020, Nissan announced plans to end the Datsun brand again in an attempt to cut $2.8 billion in annual costs, though the Datsun brand continued to be used in India until it was discontinued altogether in April 2022.
