Canon Inc. is a Japanese imaging company that manufactures photography, printing, photocopying and recording equipment, among other product lines. It also owns Océ, a Dutch imaging company, since 2008.

In 1933, Canon began as Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory. This logo depicts Kwan'on, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion.

A thinly outlined version of this logo was used on cameras until the mid-1980s. The eagle design introduced in 1935 was the corporate emblem until it was replaced with a circle in 2004 for their 70th anniversary.. In 2013, for their 75th anniversary, the eagle was revived.
