The Nine Network is a major Australian commercial free-to-air television network that is a division of Nine Entertainment Co., with headquarters in Willoughby, a suburb located on the North Shore of Sydney. The Nine Network is one of three main free-to-air commercial networks in Australia.
The logo, which consists of a numeral 9 beside nine dots arranged in a 3x3 grid, is one of the most iconic logos in Australia.

In 1959, GTV-9 Melbourne and TCN-9 Sydney came together to form The National Television Network alongside newly opened stations QTQ-9 Brisbane and NWS-9 Adelaide. Prior to this, TCN-9 was affiliated with HSV-7 Melbourne while GTV-9's sister affiliate was ATN-7 Sydney.

The National Television Network was renamed to "The National Nine Network" around 1967. Newly opened Perth station STW-9 was excluded, remaining independent until 1978.

On 9 July 1969, the National Nine Network debuted its iconic and long-running logo consisting of a number 9 beside the nine dots arranged in a 3x3 grid, designed by Brian Sadgrove. For black and white broadcasts, the full logo was only in white. When the network began colour transmissions in 1975, the text "LIVING COLOR" would be added below it. There two different variants used (likely main) at the time, the former of which the dots and the numeral are closer together, and the latter of which separated them slightly, as seen above. Perth station STW-9 would carry this logo in 1978, effectively becoming a Nine affiliate.
In 1989, the network dropped the word "National" from its name, becoming the Nine Network Australia while keeping this logo.
Although this logo ended its primary usage in 2001, it continued to be used as a secondary logo and for small-scale purposes until 2006.

The logo was tweaked to make the dots a bit smaller, which debuted on-air on 1 January 2001 with a new graphics package as well as to coincide with the introduction of digital TV in Australia. This was used in tandem with the previous logo.

On 30 January 2006, the network underwent a rebrand in honour of its 50th anniversary, where the numeral eliminated all the rounded corners, and was placed in a blue square. Controversially, the nine dots were dropped, and as a result the logo was often criticized as being bland.
The rebrand, however, was also meant to revitalize the channel branding as the network, which had by then been topping TV ratings for three decades with a one-off loss to Seven in 2000 owing to the Sydney Olympics, faced greater pressure from the increasing ratings of former second-placer Seven Network, which went on to break Nine's long-standing ratings lead in 2007.
Later, the logo became 2D during the 2007 rebrand, and then, the dots returned (partially) to become visible on every second surface of the box.

On 14 January 2008, Nine dropped the box and the dots were reinstated into the logo and along with it, came a new set of on-air graphics. Here, the dots are larger than before, and the numeral (in which it was tweaked two years prior) was maintained. However, this only applied to its Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane stations - in the case of the WIN-owned stations in Perth and Adelaide, and partly owing to affiliation disagreements, only the nine was shown.
The slogan used with this logo was "we♥TV", which was also used in December 2007 (with different graphics) with the previous logo.
On 1 February 2009, the dots were once again 2D as part of a short-lived rebrand, where the graphics package only lasted for seven months (likely due to them being a placeholder for the next one). This logo was used again in 2024.
2008–2009

The nine dots were represented by translucent 3D discs during that year. This logo was only used in metro markets for TCN, GTV, QTQ and NTD.
2009–2012

When another set of new graphics were launched on 27 September 2009, the dots were once again changed to spheres, with "Welcome Home" becoming the network's new slogan. It also began to reuse the iconic "Still the One" jingle in its graphics (but the slogan in general did not return until 2021). In March 2010, Nine's Perth and Adelaide stations finally reinstated the dots into the logo.
2012–2024

On 15 April 2012, during the premiere of The Voice, Nine came out with yet another iteration of its 3D logo, applying it in different colours (albeit six of them), which pays homage to the 2002 graphics package. It also marks the first time since 2006 that this logo has come in many different colours. It's catch-up TV service, 9Now, still used this logo as the watermark until a year later.
2015–2024

As the network underwent a rebrand on 26 November 2015, its 3D logo was redone again and it was only used for small-scale purposes until 2024. At the same time, the multi-channels GO! and GEM were renamed 9Go! and 9Gem respectively when the main channel relaunched its HD service on channel 90, along with the launch of free-to-air lifestyle channel 9Life.

In 2024, the logo became 2D once again, effectively replacing the 3D logos. This was first used in promos a year prior in July.
