LG Corporation is a South Korean conglomerate (chaebol) best known for its subsidiary, LG Electronics, that manufactures consumer electronics. Besides this, it has several other subsidiaries including LG Chem, LG Display, and the LG U+ mobile network operator. It is one of two major South Korean electronics manufacturers, along with Samsung. Previously known as Lucky-Goldstar, it adopted its current name in 1995.

In 1978, Lucky created a new four-leaf clover symbol, as a reference to its name.

In 1983, Lucky and GoldStar merged to form a new combined company, Lucky-GoldStar. The logo is a combination of the Lucky L and GoldStar crown.

On January 4, 1995, two years after rival Samsung got its new logo, Lucky-GoldStar changed its name to its initials and thus debuted its new logo, meant to resemble a smiling face, in time for the 21st century.

In 2008, the corporate font was changed to Bryant, and a glossy effect was applied to the logo.

On December 30, 2014, the wordmark font was changed to LG Smart, the new custom corporate typeface of the company since 2013. It first appeared on the LG G Flex 2 smartphone, as announced on January 5, 2015.

On July 31, 2021, LG Electronics closed its mobile division after 26 years with the LG Wing being one of the last devices of the division. The decision focuses on other growth areas, still producing other forms of electronics.
