The Hopper family of receivers were first introduced in early 2012, as the basis of Dish Network's dramatic rebrand. The name was chosen to provide the capability for viewers to skip commercials on a pre-recorded show, but was subject to lawsuit by many. The logo's mascot also once represented Dish from 2013-2014 as its means to indirectly advertise the receiver family. Hoppers are linked throughout a household with its so-called child device called the Joey.
