The Home Depot was introduced in Chile in August 1998 - opening its first store on Thursday the 27th of that month on Avenida Américo Vespucio in front of a Mallplaza Vespucio - as a joint venture with Falabella, which acquired 33% of the shares.

In mid-2000, The Home Depot shortened its name to Home Depot.

In October 2001, Falabella bought the Home Depot's share and rebrand the stores into Home Store. In 2003 Falabella merged with Sodimac and the Home Store brand was dropped.
