After years of scrapped pitches dating back to 1937, Chris Buck was hired by Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2007 to develop an adaptation of The Snow Queen.

The film was announced on December 22, 2011 under its final title, Frozen with its logo being revealed by the following year.
