1997–present

Channel O was launched in 1997 by M-Net (MultiChoice) as an African Music-focused channel. Since 2015, the channel has gradually faded in popularity owing to the recent channel launches of Soundcity, the Trace channels: Trace Africa and Trace Naija and Afro Music, hence the decision by M-Net to shut down the channel in the rest of Africa (replaced by then Africa Magic World, now Africa Magic Family), however it is still airing in South Africa.^{[1] [2]}
