Algodoo was originally developed by Emil Ernerfeldt in 2007 and was released in 2008, with the name Phun.

In January 2009, Algodoo was released by Algoryx, as a paid program, alongside Phun, which was still free at the time. Phun would later become outdated as Algodoo overshadowed it overtime. This logo was changed just a couple months later to the current logo. Despite that, this logo was still used for Algodoo Phun Edition, or Phun 5.28, until it's download link was removed in 2013.
